Welcome to the Double Digits

Yesterday was a special celebration for Anthony, it marked his tenth birthday. While playing with the grandchildren at the park chosen for the event I noticed a commemorative sign and was touched by the message. So were they.

The parents of a four year old donated all of the park equipment so that children could play and enjoy themselves like their son did when he lived. Their four year old son was taken from them much too early as the result of a car accident. Even in their grief they celebrated life with their donation which was marked with the commemorative sign. I believe that my grandchildren and their friends enjoyed playing in the park all the more knowing of the special significance and extreme generosity of the grieving parents.


The last line of their message pleads with us to enjoy our children, and enjoy we did.

 
It seemed very fitting to celebrate a birthday here and I’m sure Carter would have enjoyed the party very much. Happy Birthday Anthony!

Ruby Red Tuesday and one of my Favorite Characters.

Sunday was a very busy day for me. Weeks ago my baby girl had told me she was having a very special cook out and it was important to her that all the family be there. As I was leaving church to head over to her house the roads were blocked because of the Rose day parade. My oldest daughter, Aimee` called to ask me to take Ruby’s daughter, Re`membrence to the parade as she was in it. As a reward for perfect attendance and model behavior she was one of the few chosen children from her school to get to walk in the parade, so my husband and I quickly stopped at Ruby’s and then on to the parade. I will post on HardworkinJudy about her announcement, but for now Ruby Tuesday.

Look who I saw at the parade. I dedicated an article to the charitable events of Ronald McDonald, mentioned also on HardworkinJudy. My daughter was housed in the Ronald McDonald house after giving birth to her oldest son. It was within walking distance of Sparrow Hospital where Shaon was in the premie care unit. I have a special fondness for this charity, but that did not prepare me for this…

You know that my hair color did not come out right about a month ago. It was supposed to be light brown but came out red. Ronald McDonald took one look at me on the side lines, pointed to his hair then mine and gave me a thumbs up!!!

He even walked over to the side lines to do this. Oh my! My husband was aghast and remarked that now I really must do something about “that” hair. Thanks, Ronald.

Thankful Thursday ~ Clothing

Clothing serves multiple purposes; warmth, protection, beauty, and modesty, to name a few, okay a little more than a few. :-)

Because of the holiday week end, our management decided to let us dress more casually on the Friday before Memorial day. We were given the go ahead to wear tee shirts, flip flops and shorts just above the knee. This is a major concession over the normal dress code of business casual, but rather than be grateful I heard grumbling from some who wanted to come to work in halter tops and short shorts.

My response was to say lightheartedly and with humor; “There are some of us you really do not want to see in various stages of undress.”  Personally I believe the human body is a wondrous and magnificent thing, but prefer to view it with clothes on. Have you ever watched  a man talking to a beautiful woman with a low cut blouse on as his eyes continued to wonder to….  I’d prefer to be looked in the face while we carry on a conversation.

The right clothes can truly accent a woman’s beauty or a man’s dashing good looks. My mother told me she first saw my father in a uniform when she was 12 and fell instantly head over heels in love. I can’t dispute that. They were married more than 50 years and had me, didn’t they?

The Queen Anne’s Lace pictured above, is stunning in bloom and lacks some of it’s appeal after the blossoms fall. Well, give me all the “blossoms” you can find!
