Unshakeable Beauty

I don't work nine to five. I work eight to six.
Staying inside all day, I've got to get my fix.

Wandering to the fourth floor window, I've got to take my break
Loving the view I get, with beauty I can't shake.

The golden rain-tree stands proudly in the skies
Such a thing of beauty before my very eyes...
Colored Ribbons in the sky against the blue blue skies

Does the soul good to drink in lovely sights
Washes away the weariness and sets the world upright.

Even Flowers Know when to Bed

  sunlight
God designed our days in a certain way. The sun comes up to help us see our way and complete our tasks. At night it goes down as we no longer need  sunshine as we sleep and someone else in another part of the world is enjoying the benefits.

I took this picture just fifteen minutes ago  (9:15 p.m.) of my Rose of Sharon. It was in full bloom just hours before. Even flowers have enough sense to tuck themselves in for the night. :-)

Every night I tell myself I’ll be in bed by ten
But this and that comes along and it’s late again
I sit at my computer nearly falling from my chair
So very tired am I but free time is so rare
Between working at the office and taking care of home
I’d just like an hour I could call my own
But if I only had an hour I’d have to decide
Go outside, take pictures, or read and write inside…

This just goes to show you I want more than an hour! :-) Enjoy your weekend. Take care and may  God richly bless!

Thankful Thursday - Poetry

GEDC8362 There is something soothing to the soul in poetry. Lucille Clifton, in Christine A. Sikorski, “An Interview with Lucille Clifton,” A View From the Loft (1994) stated
“I don’t go get a poem. It calls me and I accept it.”

If you write poetry, you will understand what she means. It does call you. Sometimes it awakens you from your sleep, sometimes it draws your attention away from your tasks, sometimes it overflows from your heart or mind as you witness something that touches your soul. It is cleansing and purifying like a shower and it can encompass such a wide spectrum of emotions within a few words, and do it like the ebb and flow of water on the shore, with a rhythm. The words connect the writer and reader in an almost intimate manner uniting them for the moment.

The love of poetry claimed me at an early age. I remember submitting a poem to a song company when I was in fifth grade. I am so proud of Icy BC Doan for creating her own book of poetry, (which has long been a dream of mine). I wish her well and know she will be successful as she has such a huge capacity for caring and expression along with a talent for a creativity. She is the hardest working online writer that I know and you can see her labors of love on many blogs and websites. I gave you only one link to click on but if you visit her blog you will find links to others.

Poetry is like nature. I went to visit the pond by Polly’s country market  hoping maybe to see the crane again. I have found beautiful examples of God’s handiwork in the most unusual places. I found they had mowed down all the wild flowers at the pond but these tiny flowers stubbornly refused to leave the area.  They grew wildly along the water bank. Life tries to choke out our creativity by keeping us overwhelmed and busy, maybe even insane, but God’s reminders are every where. I drove behind the store and saw the prettiest Queen Anne’s Lace and two butterflies sharing a clover.

I thought the Q.A.L. looked just like a heart.

I want to be like a butterfly and seek out the wonders that God has for us. When you seek out His beauty you will find your heart overflows with poetry. Your poetry may be prose, photography, woodworking, crocheting, embroidery, culinary arts, dance, music…. but it is poetry just the same.

Enjoy, share, and God bless! For more of God’s critters check out Camera Critters.

I’ll never leave you nor forsake you…

We have that promise from God. God can do all, but he cannot break a promise.

Our loved ones, with the best of intentions, break promises and even our hearts sometimes, but even when human frailty causes us to be less than we what we would like to be, God gives us power to be so much more…

I’ll never go away
I’ll follow what you do
But there might be a day

When you’ll think that I left you

But every time you see a cloud
So fluffy, large, and white…
Please notice how it is
Completely full of light.

Every light within the castle
Is shining bright as bright can be
For God has made a castle
Just for you and me

I sit upon this cloud
Where you’re never out of view
And ask our God to bless you
In all you say and do

I love writing poetry and am trying a relatively new site out that publishes and pays. I don’t want to recommend them until I see how it goes for awhile. More of my poetry can be read here.

Alliteration Challenge

I was out buying a few groceries when a friend called and wanted to have lunch. I was happy to join her, and she is co-conspirator in that she helps me find photo worthy objects so this was going to be fun! It was a challenging day for photography in that it was very windy. I took 113 pictures and had to toss a few, but I still do not regret the adventure. :-)

I told her about my beautiful starling, and she spotted one sitting in this red tree. This little starling had purple in it's black glossy feathers along with the iridescent gold. Unfortunately the sun was at his back and he sat in the shadows. I talked to him, like Chan said but he only flew away, as if I could coax him into posing for me in more favorable lighting. It was only a thought, which flew away with the bird.

Beverly, or Bev, as I call her will pull over at the nearest spot and encourage this love of photography in me. I'm trying to get her online, but she has not purchased the internet yet. Who knows, I may get her blogging yet. Once bit, you can't quit!

I want to challenge you to an alliteration challenge. How many times can you use the same sound in a post? I don't care which sound you choose. I chose "B" today. Here is my poem:

Beautiful blossoms bounce on the trees
Bouncing to a beat caused by the breeze...
The bold blond blogger braces the branches
Brandishing her camera as she takes her chances.

The blazing beautiful tree is brilliantly awesome
There's a bird, there's a bee lighting on a blossom
She breaks to the left, she breaks to the right
With break necking speed captures the beautiful sight.

I hope you enjoy my little poem as much as I enjoyed writing it and look forward to reading yours.

Take care and God bless.
